1st Team All State: After quarterbacking the Patriots to a Class 8A title on the gridiron, Bourbon led a young baseball team this spring to a sectional championship. The Northwestern baseball signee hit .425 leading the Patriots in extra base hits and RBI, while also hitting four home runs. Two of the homers came against Libertyville in a playoff victory where he accounted for all five of Stevenson’s runs.

4/5/14 - Ranked No. 9 in Illinois’ 2015 class, No. 40 overall. One of the top uncommitted 2015s in the state. Natural third baseman, but plays SS on high school team. Highly competitive athlete, left-handed hitter. Walked in his first two plate appearances and grounded out to pitcher. Showed his baseball IQ when he made an inside slide at home to avoid tag despite ball beating him by a foot. Umpire made correct call without the aid of instant replay.
6.13.13 - Strong build, advanced physicality and athleticism, 6-foot, 185-pound left handed hitting third baseman. On the infield he showed soft hands, fields the baseball out in front, left of center, plays through the baseball well. Stays low when transferring the baseball, advanced lower half. Arm plays across the diamond, showed some accuracy, lowered arm slot, 76 mph across the diamond. Offensively hits from the left side, balanced stance, short stride slightly dives. Consistent hard contact, path creates some lift, left handed power potential. Bourbon is one of the strongest hitters in the Class of 2015 and shows soft defensive hands. High follow.

6/4/13 - Bourbon is 6-foot-1, 190-pounds and clearly has the tools and skills to play at a high level. Showed good athleticism defensively with a strong arm across the infield. Left-handed hitter, hits from a slightly open stance, advanced bat speed.

4/24/13 One of the top Class of 2015 prospects in the Midwest. Currently ranked No. 5 in Illinois; 26 overall. Solid, athletic build, 6-foot, 185-pounds. Also standout quarterback in football; threw for 2,400 yards as a sophomore on ranked football team. Being recruited in both sports. Don’t know much about the world of football recruiting, but no doubt he has a bright future in baseball. Has advanced left-handed plate approach. Slightly open stance, lower hand position, aggressive lower half. Generates considerable bat speed. Defensively, has plenty of arm at third base and moves well laterally. Has potential to be high-level national recruit.

1/20/13 - Strong athletic build, 6-foot, 185-pound left-handed hitting third baseman. Projects to be high-level prospect in Midwest, potentially in nation. Hit tool has potential to be a plus, with power potential in future. Hits from left side, uses open stance, short stride, hands drop at load, active lower half. Shows solid balance throughout, bat speed present, 80 mph exit velocity, flashes occasional power. Strong lower half with developed calves contribute to barrel whip through zone. Defensively shows excellent athleticism, hands work well, arm shows carry across (78 mph), athletic arm action, releases athletically, feet work well, 7.25 runner.
1/22/12 Bourbon is a physical 6-foot, 185-pound left-handed hitting infielder. Bourbon uses his athletic frame and loose swing to create good whip through the zone.  He has a strong, active lower half and maintains excellent balance throughout as he sprayed line drives. Bourbon, who ran a 7.47 60, demonstrated reliable hands in the infield. On the mound, the right-handed pitcher showcased three pitches: a 78-79 mph fastball, a 72-74 mph slider, and a 74-76 mph changeup that flashed some sink.
