Committed to Indiana State out of Heartland CC (IL).
6.18.15 - 5-foot-10, 160-pound two-way player, average lean build. On the mound works from a drop and drive style delivery with some effort, slide step from stretch, slight recoil finish to first base side. Arm action is loose and quick, high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 85-86 mph, touching 87-88 mph, showed feel for the zone. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 71-72 mph, ability to throw strikes. Changeup has fading action, near fastball arm speed, controls the zone, 75-77 mph. Defensively showed a big arm out of the crouch, short high ¾ slot, carried well to the bag, 81 mph arm strength. Strong pop times at 1.92-2.01. Good athlete, 7.01 runner. Hits from a slightly open stance, short stride loads hands back. Spray hitter, line drive approach. 86 mph exit velocity from the tee.

3.30.15 - 5-foot-10, 155-pound, small, skinny, athletic, C/RHP. Frey caught in the game we attended, and his arm is a weapon behind the plate. 2.06 in game pop times, 2.19 from knees in between innings, short, quick, athletic arm action. Back picked a runner at second base, and also caught a runner trying to steal second. Hits in the leadoff spot, slightly open stance, leg kick stride, singled to left field hard in third at bat. Legitimate two-way potential, although lack of physicality and quick arm may be better suited on the mound for the Division-I level. He’s showcased an 86-87 mph fastball with a plus changeup in the 75-78 mph range this winter. Runs well for a catcher, 7.14 in the 60.
2.15.15 - 5-foot-10, 155-pound athletic C/RHP hits from an open setup, narrow stance, hands load back smoothly, long stride, bat speed present, 86 mph exit velocity, long, slight uphill bat path, pull tendencies. Defensively, pop times ranged from 1.97-2.0, 82 mph from the crouch from short, over-the-top slot with carry and accuracy right on the bag. Quick feet, soft hands receiving, pops up quickly on block and recover. Frey is an impressive two-way talent, sitting 86-87 mph on the mound from a short, loose, quick, high ¾ arm slot. Regular effort, swings lower half slightly, land square, slight recoil at finish. 76-78 mph changeup flashed plus action to arm side, thrown for strikes, one of the top secondary offerings at the Preseason All-State. Also threw a 68-71 mph curveball, 11/5 shape, feel for strikes, confidence in all three pitches. Frey has plus catch-and-throw skills, and despite his smaller frame his future may be on the mound with his quick, athletic arm and plus changeup.
8.6.14 5-foot-10, 150-pound catcher, thin build with athleticism. Defensively showed advanced catch and throw skills for his age. Traditional catchers arm action, short over the top slot, arm has carry, 79 mph out of the crouch. Posted pop times at 2.01-2.11, softer hands, mechanically sound blocker. Right handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride, athletic setup. Loose hands, slight pull side, 78 mph exit velocity from the tee. Ran a 7.23 laser timed 60.

7.23.14 5-foot-10, 150-pound catcher/right-handed pitcher impressed with arm strength both on the mound and behind the plate.  Threw 79-82 mph off the mound with some sink from short, over the top arm slot with a drop and drive delivery.  Showed some rhythm in delivery with level shoulders, and lower half staying in line with home plate.  64-68 mph breaking ball showed 12/6 shape gradual break for strikes.  71-72 mph changeup missed to his arm side.  Behind the plate, threw 79 mph from the crouch with pop times ranging between 2.07-2.16.  Hits from a wide, balanced setup, with a short stride and slightly uphill bat path looking to pull with 85 mph exit velocity.  Also ran a 7.14 60 yard dash, 4.44 seconds from home to first.
