A catcher/outfielder for the Mustangs put together a display at the plate on this day. In the early innings, he took a pitch deep over the left-field wall for a home run, and later he took a pitch for a ride to deep left-centre, just falling short of getting out. It’s a physical frame which works compact and short to the baseball, he looks to get his bat head out front and let his strength take over.
5-foot-10, 180-pound C with a 91 mph exit velocity and a pop time of 1.99-2.06. Starts in a low, wide batting stance with bat resting on his shoulder. Aggressive to the ball; gets off his back leg well to generate power; has a short, compact swing and a high, two-handed finish. Behind the plate, sets up in an active stance; has very quick hands and a quick transfer; short arm action; throws the ball on the bag consistently; 74 mph position velocity. Recorded a 60 time of 7.53.
2/16/2019: Alex Hewitt, C/OF, Hamilton Heights HS, 2020, 5 foot 10, 180 pounds, hits with an early hand load and strides on a high front heel, gets on plane with bat speed. Recorded a max exit velocity of 93 mph, and also threw 85 mph from the outfield.
12.8.18: 5-foot-10, 180 pound catcher produced pop times of 2.00-2.03 and was 76 from the crouch. Quick, clean footwork, clean/quick exchange. Also worked out in the outfield where he was up to 85 mph from a short arm action. Offensively, hits from an open setup, narrow base. Short stride, partial use of the lower half, average balance throughout his swing. Above average bat speed. Long, level path. Bat waggle. High exit velocity of 90 mph.

Stocky, strong catcher hits from open crouched stance on the right side, closes with short stride and hand load back, small movements. Upper half tightly wound, limited lower half with stiff back hip, produces level bat path and line drives with average bat speed. Solid base, short to the ball pull side. Behind the plate, feet work quick with clean exchange to get rid of baseball, more arm strength and carry to be developed. Delivered pop times 2.05-2.11 around the bag, more added arm strength will work below 2.0. Sits low to receive the baseball, late at times to block.
