6-foot-1, 170-pound lanky frame. Smooth on the mound, showing some arm speed he had an over-the-top arm angle and a long arm action. Slow-tempo type pitcher who shows easy effort. Balance point is tall with even shoulders during delivery. Lands soft with a clean finish. Threw his fastball 85-86 mph with a max of 86 mph; has up in the zone command and tailing action with straight movement. Threw his 12/6 curveball (76-78) with sinking action and occasional control. Threw a straight changeup (80-81) that showed tailing action and arm side control.
2019 INDIANA STATE GAMES: Stands about 6-foot-2, 170 pounds with a high waistline and athleticism on the mound. Big high leg kick and a long loose arm generates a fastball 82-83 with more probably in the tank. Arm looks quick. Figures to be a MIF at the next level, but could develop into an effective arm with a bump in velocity as he fills out. Was the DH on the day with several level line drive type swings.
7/24/18: 2021 primary MIF prospect who can also hop on the bump. Hits from the right side, athletic crouch setup in the box. Showed good bat speed through the zone, posted an exit velo of 81. Bat short is and compact with a level bat path. Showed ability to spray line drives through round of BP. In the field showed good actions and range up the middle. Whippy arm action across the diamond with accuracy on throws at 80. On the mound pitches from 3/4 arm slot. Arm is loose and free in complete arm circle. Repeats mechanics throughout delivery well. FB sat 80-83 T85 with more in the tank. Flashed one of the best breaking balls at the event with a hard 78 MPH slider that showed as an out pitch. Showed good feel for the pitch with the ability to throw it anytime in count. High upside 2021 MIF/RHP.
4/14/18: Young, raw, projectable middle infield type stands about 5'11 and 155 pounds. Athletic stance at the plate with some choppy rhythm. Leg kick with minimal load. Good bat speed. Hands will cast causing the barrel to miss at times. Swing was short and level on a line drive to the outfield. Line drive hitter with gap to gap power projection. Displays raw movements in the field. Played second on the evening but likely has the arm to move to the left side. Short, high 3/4 arm with above average strength and some accuracy. Feet can get heavy but the exchange is clean and hands are above average. Plays with a confidence that belies his age and experience. Wilson has the tools to play at this level as a freshman. Any rawness or stiffness are not surprising for an athlete of his age.
