6-foot, 160-pound OF. Starts with his feet even in a slightly open batting stance; weight distributed evenly; has good separation; uses rhythm in hands for timing. Hits ball out in front; stays inside of ball well; has a line drive swing plane; 81 mph exit velocity. In OF, fields balls cleanly; stays behind fly balls; makes high effort throws; throws were consistently on target; 77 mph position velocity. Recorded a 60 time of 7.34.
2/23/2019: Caiden Toney, 3B/OF, Danville HS, 2022, 6 foot, 160 pounds, ran a 7.32 with an exit velo of 87 mph and threw 77 mph across the infield. Sets up slightly open from the right side and separates early creating early contact out front. Bat speed is there, needs to be in middle of the field more. There is a lot of effort to his actions at 3rd base, that should get better as he matures and gets reps. I like his intent at the plate and his raw athleticism.
