4/17/18 Spring Scout Blog: Uncommitted 2019 5-foot-10, 170 pound righty. Pitches from 2 different arms slots, one high 3/4 slot and one low 3/4 or close to side arm slot with some effort in delivery. Was more effective during his outing from the high 3/4 slot. Tended to be flat through the zone from lower slot and found a lot of barrels. Velo was very rangy during his 5 2/3 innings of work (gave up 12 hits and 8 runs.) Opened up the game 84- 86 T88 mainly from high 3/4 slot, was more 82-85 from lower slot. In the 4th FB velo was down to 80-83 from both slots. Commanded FB fairly well during outing. Only tried to spin a breaking ball from lower slot creating some sweeping action but tended to cut it off causing the ball to hang up in zone.

5-foot-10, 170 pound junior outfielder works from a narrow base, tall stance in the box, swings with easy effort and bat speed. Closed off lower half, hands and barrel load with good rhythm, limited stride and lower half in the swing, hands work well to the baseball. Flat, line drive approach to middle of the field. More length in the stride and backside turn needed. Short arm action from the outfield, delivered strong throws with accuracy. Live arm with carry, average hands with fluid feet to field.

Pitching: Varying looks on the mound, throws from OT and low ¾, repeats athletic delivery well with smooth rhythm, strong lower half. Arm works quick, small hitch at the back, shoulders and front side good direction down the mound, front foot lands slightly closed. OT Fastball sat 84-86, touching and 87, with command side to side of plate. Low ¾ Fastball was 82 with slight run and sink. Arm and tempo slowed on off-speed pitches, breaking ball was through 67-70 with gradual downward break. Changeup was guided at 72-73.
