Valpo's top hitting prospect was out front on Friday with three popouts to second base to start the weekend series, but third-year sophomore Kyle Schmack adjusted and was locked in for games two and three, launching two home runs during Saturday's 11-2 Beacon win. He stroked another pair of hits, including a double, during Sunday's 2-1 series finale. Make no mistake, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound physical-bodied outfielder is at the plate looking to lift and slug for extra bases. For the season Schmack is hitting .325 with five home runs and 22 RBI. He also has surprising agility for his size with eight stolen bases in 11 attempts.

6/15/17: 6-foot-1, 220-pound right-handed hitting third baseman with a strong frame. At the plate hits from a balanced, slightly open setup with a short leg lift stride and good balance. Power approach with an uphill swing path and explosive bat speed. 88 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.27. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Threw 71 mph across the infield.

3/5/17:  The 6-foot, 210 pound corner infielder hits from an athletic, open setup with above average bat speed.  Long, uphill path with some pullside pop.  Fluid rhythm, average balance.   Top exit velocity of 85.  Throws from a short, high 3/4 slot.  Average arm strength with accurate throws.  Hands are sure with flat footwork.  Clean exchange, plays on heels.  Throws topped at 71mph across the infield.
