6/25/13: Overall solid baseball player. Continues to improve on the mound, was up to 85 with a heavy fastball.
2/23/13:6-foot, 170 pound junior runs a 6.91 60. Overall athletic infielder possesses fluid footwork with a quick exchange. Across the diamond was 81 mph with carry and accuracy. Plays through the baseball with soft hands. Overall natural feel for the position. At the plate displays a good approach. His stride is long and dives towards the ball. Swing path is long, but gets to extension barreling up most balls. Projects to hit for average. On the mound leads with his hip and works more as a drop and drive guy. Needs to continue to add strength. The arm works really well. Works from a ¾ arm slot. Throws a heavy fastball that sits 82-83. Breaking ball is hard (77-78) with a 10/4 shape. Change up shows good arm side run. Threw all three pitches in the zone with good feel. Gets outs and expect a velo jump soon. Patton was a member of Team Indiana at the 2012 Under Armour MW Future Games.
Matt Patton, is a 6-foot 170 pound shortstop from East Noble. Patton showed athletic actions in the infield with good rhythm. Patton played through the ball well with good hands. He also demonstrated good foot speed with a 6.91 sixty. At the plate, Patton was solid. He is a line drive hitter with a good approach. His swing path is a little long, but he barrels a lot of balls. He has average power, but should hit for a high average.
