MWFG 8/16/13: SS/RHP from Heritage Hills, continues to show plus actions up the middle and the ability to pitch. As a positional player, Ward probably projects as a rangy second baseman that game hits. Ward plays the game hard and is a competitor. Offensivley, Ward is a contact guy that uses the whole field. Ward, will have to get stronger to become a true offensive threat. On the mound, Ward gets outs. He pitches 82-85 and possesses a lot of movement. Everything he throws moves. He misses barrels a lot and gets easy outs throughout his outings. Several players in the Indiana dugout said Ward was one of the toughest guys they faced all year. Ward is still considered a two-way prospect and time will tell which direction he will head.

2012: Ward was an impressive 6-foot, 155 pound freshman offensively, defensively, and on the mound.  In the field he shows athleticism and the ability to pick it.  His range is good, and shows a strong arm across the diamond at 82 mph.  On the mound he’s extremely loose with a quick arm producing a 82-85 mph fastball with good movement.  His breaking ball is a plus pitch for his age at 68-69 mph, and throws a changeup at 71-74 mph.  At the plate, Ward shows good plate awareness with a balanced, level swing.  His bat speed is quick, producing good pop.  Ward ran a 7.3 sixty at the event.  He’s a high follow in the 2015 class.
