Slow-tempo type pitcher who shows easy effort. Showed consistent balance point with even shoulders. Lands soft with an athletic finish. Threw his fastball 79-81 mph; shows running action and consistent control. Had sweeping action and command low in the zone on his curveball (70-71). His tight changeup (75-76) has glove side control. Showed in the zone control and plus action on his slider (70-74).
Zach Wager: LHP/OF, (2022) Columbus North, IN. 5-foot-11, 142-pound lean frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 80 mph. Begins in a balanced stance with a wrapping load, then uses a toe tap before his swing. Had a level swing plane and above average bat speed. Recorded an outfield position velocity of 82 mph; has consistent footwork. Used a loose arm action on his throws. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.56. On the mound, throws from a high ¾ arm angle. Feel type pitcher and shows some effort. An athletic balance point. Sat with his fastball at 80-81 mph and topped out at 81 mph. Curveball (66-69 mph), changeup (73-74 mph), slider (70-74 mph).

Columbus North High School, Class of 2022; 5-foot-10, 135-pound LHP/OF. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 75 mph. Started in a wide, slightly open stance; used a toe tap, a big load in his arms and some bat tilt. Showed a line drive swing path with a high, two-handed finish. In the infield, his best throw was registered at 71 mph. Moved off first base well and used his body’s momentum to make good throws. His glove worked and he fielded balls cleanly. From the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 77 mph. Used his legs well while throwing from a high ¾ arm slot. He recorded a 60 time of 7.89 at the event. On the mound, had a long, fluid arm action. Uses his upper half well to gain velocity; creates some tilt action. Spotted up with his breaking ball. Was very effective against left-handed hitters during his outing. His fastball was clocked sitting at 75-77 mph and topped out at 77 mph. His curveball (64-68 mph) had the most depth when he located it down by the hitter’s knees.
2/23/2019: Zach Wager, LHP/OF, Columbus North HS, 2022, 5 foot 9, 123 pounds, continued to show simple repeatable delivery with a clean arm action and pounded the zone with strikes. Spin was good and changeup as well. Still questions on future velocity based on current size and strength, but arm action and feel are already present. At the plate, Zach takes his hands back early and swings downhill. Strength is needed for him to take his offensive game to the next level.
Body Type: 6-foot, 120-pound thin frame with room a ton of room to add.
Swing Mechanics: Balanced stance with an athletic leg kick movement to initiate lower half while hands stay quiet.
Hit: Uphill path with feel for contact. Worked inside a middle-away approach in BP.
Power: 70 mph exit velocity. Balanced strength and bat speed through the zone with more to come. Line drive guy presently.
Offensive Projection: TBD. At the beginning stages of physical maturation.
Run: 5.0 H-1st.
Field: Athletic actions with smooth actions. One-handed play through with above average ball skills. Also worked out at first base where he showed an above average skills set with well above average athleticism for the spot.
Throw: 73 mph arm strength to home plate and 70 mph across the infield. Loose arm that projects for much more strength. Going to throw the baseball hard someday.
Defensive Projection: Corner Guy.
Body Type: 6-foot, 120-pound thin frame with room a ton of room to add.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Athletic delivery that doesn’t require much effort. Very loose, clean arm that projects for much more strength down the road. Will see much more velocity from Wager as he matures physically.
Fastball: 66-71 mph. Ball comes out well and he can use both sides of the plate.
Curveball: 57-60 mph. 1/7 shaped wrinkle breaking ball that should grow into a very good pitch as velocity increases.
Changeup: 59-62 mph. Decent offering stuff wise, just needs to continue developing feel.
Pitchability: Fastball/breaking ball in the zone consistently with changeup being a tad bit inconsistent.

Additional Comments: Athletic lefty to follow. Velo isn’t there but that arm really works and he should add easy MPHs as he adds strength.
