7/15/22

2022 MLB Draft League: Harper has only improved during his stint with the Draft League while heavily relying on a hard fastball (95-97) and a lethal cutter (91-92). Both pitches have elite spin (2700-2800 RPM) and miss bats often.

5/21/21

6’4” 230. Strong, durable pitcher’s body. FB 92-95 has some movement. Slider 82-83 has slurvy break, occasionally sharp. Two-pitch guy with a good arm. Competed well. Senior type guy who has some value later in the draft. Good value guy who could end up as a bullpen piece at the ML level.

8/16/19

Sat 89-to-91, touching 93 mph, with a lively fastball. He also folded in a firm low-80s changeup and fringe average 79-to-80 mph slider with short action and some swing-and-miss potential – especially to the back foot of lefty bats. Harper continues to struggle finding the zone and too often got himself into trouble with free passes and working behind in the count this summer.

Super 60: Kentucky recruit. 6-foot-4, 218-pound right-handed pitcher, sturdy-strong frame with developed lower half. Showed he is completely recovered from Tommy John surgery with solid overall performance at the Super 60. Showed feel for three pitches, around the zone with all three. Works from high-¾ slot, short and quick arm action, moderate effort. Repeats simple delivery well.  Fastball sat 88-90, topping at 91, mostly straight with occasional arm-side run. Changeup ranged between 80-83 mph, thrown for consistent strikes with sinking action down in the zone. Curveball sat 75-77 with some depth.

7/31/15 - Harper is a 6'3 200-pound right handed pitcher from Bishop Miege. With a smooth high 3/4 arm slot and delivery, he gets down the mound with some down hill angle and late movement on his fastball, which has a uptick of velo, max 89 mph. 86-88 mph for quality strikes producing swings and misses. A improved tighter spinning breaking pitch at 72-74 mph.

6/2/15 - Daniel is a 6'3 200-pound wide shoulder big framed right handed hitter, corner infielder and pitcher from Bishop Miege. A strong big frame and wide shoulders with a high 3/4 slot with a long loose arm with a slight pause in his delivery that cause a timing disruption with hitters.  Plays the corners effectively with athletic and clean movements and a fluid throw with carry and accuracy.

8/1/15 - Harper is a 6-foot-3 200-pound right-handed pitcher. Harper had an impressive weekend, touching 89 mph on the mound and sitting consistently at 85-88 mph.  He has late movement on his fastball and was able to work both sides of the plate. Harper has an over-the-top release and quick arm speed, and showed the ability to repeat his release point and throw strikes.  He showed an 11-to-5 breaking ball with late action and a change-up at 75-76 mph.

12/27/14 - Harper is a physical 6-foot-3, 212-pound right-handed pitcher and right-hand hitting third baseman. On the mound showed an up-tempo, aggressive delivery, three-quarters slot, arm works, fastball 81-85 mph (86  tops), strikes. Breaking ball 70-73 mph. Change-up 76-78 mph. During infield drills hands and feet worked well, especially for such a physical player, strong throws across the diamond. At the plate showed an aggressive swing with some bat speed. Impressive two-way class of 2017 prospect.
