2/12/17 - Black is a 6-foot-3 200-pound right-handed hitting shortstop and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class.  Black ran a 7.25 laser timed 60 and a 4.53 home to first.  He has a 90 mph exit velo. At the plate, tall and thin set up, drops into legs to load, loose and quick swing, hard consistent contact to middle and pull side, power swing.  On the infield, 86 mph positional velo, high three quarters with a long arm circle, fluid footwork moving the ball, momentum after the catch, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Black has an up-tempo delivery with an over the top release, repeats well showing command of three pitches, fastball topped at 86 mph, working 83-86 mph, both sides of the plate, some on a downhill plane, breaking ball has gradual 11-to-5 shape, bottom of zone, looks to be a good pitch down the road, change up at 73-75 mph, flashed late arm side run.

11/1/15 - Black is a 6-foot-2 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. He ran a 7.18 60 and 4.66 home-to-fist. At the plate, tall and balanced stance dropping into back leg to load, simple/short stride, gap-to-gap approach, level to extension, loose hands, showed power to middle of field, 84 mph exit velo. Black had one of the top outfield velos on the day at 81 mph, easy/loose arm action, over the top slot, momentum through catch, fluid footwork, quick exchange and release, accurate throws. Singled to left in game action. Lean and projectable build and has showed improvements across the board since last event. On the mound, Black worked mainly inside to LHH, throwing with a high three-quarters release, loose arm action, quick arm speed, throws with some effort, fastball mostly straight at 78-79 mph, curveball at 65-66 mph, 11-to-5 action, smooth rhythm in conventional delivery, repeats well, land in line, athletic finish, projectable build with room to add weight and strength.

6/2/15 - Drew is 6' 160-pound lean frame, right hand hitting middle infielder and a right handed pitcher from Blue Valley Northwest. Showed athletic movements in the infield portion ranging to balls both glove and throwing side. Used a clean exchange and accurate throws with a positional top velo of 76 mph. Simple repeatable motion on the mound with a quick loose high 3/4 arm, hit  max fastball velo of 78 mph.At the plate, has a open stance with a long stride and swing that gets extension through the ball with a exit velo of 78 mph.
