4/2/15 - Uncommitted class of 2016 catching prospect. 6-foot, 165-pound frame. Right-handed hitter. Hits in 3-hole for very good high school team. Went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Worked middle of the field, bat speed, ball came off bat very well. Currently 6-for-9 with two walks in three games this season. Receives well, accurate arm, threw out two runners in the game, caught no-hitter. One of the few starting catchers as a sophomore at a 6A school in Kansas last spring and Northwest is seeing the benefits on the field as a junior.

7/15/14 - Stephens is a 5-foot-11, 155-pound right-hand hitting catcher/outfielder. Garrett had a POP range of 2.07-2.18. At the plate he has a balanced set-up, forward weight shift followed by backward weight shift timed up with a smooth backward load then a short inline stride. He has a fairly level swing with a high finish and works mostly in the middle of the field. He improved his exit velocity from 80 MPH to 83 mph over the last 6 months.
1/4/14 - Stephens is a 5-foot-11, 155-pound right-hand hitting catcher. During the catchers throwing segment he had a top velocity of 71 mph and 2.27 pop time showing average footwork and exchanges as he delivered the ball to second base. At the plate he has a balanced set-up, forward weight shift followed by backward weight shift timed up with a smooth backward load then a short inline stride. He has a fairly level swing with a high finish and works mostly in the middle of the field. His top exit velocity was 80 mph.
