2/21/16 - Lane is a 6-foot-1 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder and pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class from Blue Valley HS.  He has a 81 mph exit velo. At the plate, athletic stance, smooth rhythm, loose and quick hands with level bat path, stays on the ball, gap-to-gap approach, repeats swing.  In the outfield, 79 mph positional velo, one of top velos for the event, high three quarters release, arm works, quick feet with clean transfer, plays through the ball. On the mound, very simple, efficient delivery, repeats well. Quick arm, minimal effort, three-quarters slot. Fastball with mostly arm-side run, sink when down, can also square up the catcher with firm glove-side fastball, fastball command guy, 77-83 mph. Breaking ball with short 11/5 action, 68-69 mph. Works down with change-up, most with arm side fade/sink, good sell with fastball arm-speed, 72-74 mph. Has improved physically and velocity-wise (was 78-79 mph a year ago January) over the last year. Trending up. With his simple delivery and clean arm action could develop upper-level command in college. Solid follow in 2017 class.

2/21/15 - Lane is a 6-foot 160-pound OF in Kansas’ 2017 class. Consistently squared up balls during hitting evaluations, balanced set-up, toe touch, loose hands, level path to extension, quick bat speed, 79 mph exit velo, 4.34 home-to-first.  In the outfield, over-the-top release, quick footwork, clean exchange, plays though the ball, 83 mph positional velo.

1/19/15 - Michael Lane is a 6-foot, 160-pound right-handed pitcher and outfielder. Attends Blue Valley HS. Class of 2017. Athletic set-up at the plate, smooth load, toe tap then short stride, level bat path out front, excellent balance. Middle-oppo line drives in batting practice. Recorded an 80 mph exit velocity, ran a 4.71 home-to-first. Fielded the ball cleanly in the outfield, clean over-the-top arm action, 75 mph throwing velocity. On the mound showed a simple delivery with balance, three-quarters slot, arm works. Fastball with some arm side run, sink down in zone, holds consistent velocity, all fastballs 78-79 mph. Fastball command, works down in zone. Breaking ball with 12/6 shape, gradual action, strikes, 66-67 mph. Feel for 73-74 mph change-up. Threw strikes at a rate as high as anyone at the event, more in the tank velocity-wise.
