Fall Prospect Program 2013 - The 6-foot-1, 182-pound Smiley participated in Week 4 at Western Kentucky and pitched 3 shutout innings.  He uses short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot.  His fastball sat good arm-side run at 78-80 mph, and he showed good command of his 65-67 mpg curveball with 1/7 action, also throws a 73-75 mph slider, and changeup shows some run and sink at 70-71 mph.  In the outfield he shows athletic actions and plays through the ball well with 81 mph arm strength.  The left-handed hitter got sown the first base line in 4.43 seconds.

8/11/13 - 6-foot-1, 182-pound prospect, plays through the ball well, clean transfer, uses short arm action at 79 mph, made very impressive catch in center field in game play with his back to the plate on a well hit ball directly over his head.  At the plate, hits from an open setup, short stride, line drive swing plane, showed some bat speed with 85 mph tee exit velocity, ran 4.47 down the line, went 0-for-4 in game play with middle of the field approach.  On the mound, uses short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot, fastball shows good arm-side run at 78-81 mph, curveball sat 73-75 mph with 1/7 action, throws changeup with good arm action at 70 mph with some run and sink, struggled early with command but settled in, was able to miss barrels with location and changing speeds.
