2016 Pre-Season First Team All-State

2/7/16 A 6-foot-2, 198-pound infielder with a strong, athletic frame. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange and plays through balls well. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 88 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, explosive lower half and solid balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and explosive bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 97 mph. Quality athlete that also posted a 6.8 60 yard dash.

11/7/15 A 6-foot-2, 198-pound infielder with a strong, athletic frame. Outstanding defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange and plays through balls athletically. Loose arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 82 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, explosive lower half and solid balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and explosive bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 97 mph. Quality athlete that also posted a 6.66 60 yard dash.

Jake Slaughter is a 2016 SS with a 6-foot-1 190 pounds frame from Ouachita Christian HS. Jake is a 6.7 runner with above average size and athleticism(35 inch vertical) for the middle infield. He has plus range, actions and instincts with a true feel for short stop. Shows an advanced understanding of angles at SS, with smooth and quick hands. Plays under control and still maintains awareness and a sense of timing for the play. He has enough arm strength to presently make all the throws from the left side of diamond. Jake swings from the right side of the plate with his hands held above the shoulder. He is very quiet and still, with good rhythm and a short compact swing. There is minimal to no load with the hands. The barrel stays in the hitting zone along time, and on a good plane. He displays good hand-eye coordination, not swinging and missing much, and putting the barrel on balls consistently. He flashes average to above average present power, hitting double digit home runs as a Soph. Jake is highly advanced for his age, and still projects to get better. The entire package of tools and ability make Jake an exciting prospect. He has the frame and the athleticsm to be an elite middle of the order bat, with good speed all while playing in the middle of the infield. Also has shown a great make up, with a solid work ethic and seems to be an extremely tough kid. He is also a two sport athlete and is considered one of the best WR in the state of LA, garnering interest from many D-1 schools to play football. .
