Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
6-foot-2, 175-pound athletic middle infielder with a very good skill set. The frame projects, the hands work at the plate and he can run. Ran a 6.88 on the laser, threw 85 mph across the diamond and had a tee exit velocity of 87 mph. I can only imagine how physical he could get with the proper baseball specific lifting and training. Made all the plays in the game and a half he was there. Competed in his at bats and hustled around. Good looking player with a bright future if he puts in the work on his body.
6/28/16 Athletic, 6-foot-2, 175-pound shortstop who has really developed well over the past year. He is a much better player for me. The glove is above average, the arm has strength to it and he handles the pivot easily. Threw 81 mph across the diamond and ran a 4.35 on a dig to first base. Gets off the ball well in the game and has been taught proper prep steps to the baseball. The bat needs strength to it, as the frame should fill out nicely, tee exit velocity of 82 mph. Hits out of a wide base and high back elbow setup. The bottom half is under control, allowing him the ability to stay in position to handle secondary stuff. High level prospect for me based off this past weekend.
2/20/16 6-foot-2, 170-pound long athletic frame, has plenty of room for future development. A solid looking right-handed hitting middle infielder. The stance is even, wide, sits in a small crouch with his weight slightly on the backside. The hands are relaxed and set just below shoulder height, uses a minimal stride for timing. The swing path is level through the zone, stays on it and finishes with two hands. The tee exit velocity was 79 mph, showed a middle of the field approach. Both rounds of BP were solid. Defensively, shows good prep steps, soft hands and he fields ball out front. The feet and hands work well together, transfer is clean, arm action is short and clean. Clocked at 79 mph, showed carry to ball. Came through backhand play nicely. Ran a 4.28 from home to first. Continuing to get stronger is a must.
10/11/15 Solid looking infielder who has attended previous events. The glove and arm are very well skilled, threw 77 across the diamond with ease. The glove and approach are very solid and function well in the middle of the diamond. Ran a 4.5 on a dig to first base. The swing is solid with a good base to it, still needs to add strength to the body. Tee exit velocity of 75. With body strength and continued physical maturation, the tools are there to be a solid middle infield prospect, I like his game.
6/30/15 Good looking player who can stick in the middle of the field. Throws from a low-¾ slot which leads him to flip the ball a bit too much. Threw 74 mph across the diamond but the arm has more in it out of a higher slot. The glove and approach are advanced for his age. The bat is simple and the hands work, tee exit velocity of 77 mph. The stance has high hands to it, a clean path and a high finish. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash and showed good athleticism all day. Keep an eye on this prospect.
