Christopher Trodden, OF/RHP, R/R, Austin Prep, 2024
Trodden is a 5-foot-8, 135 pound right-handed hitting two-way prospect. He hits out of a wide stance, with his weight stacked over the back leg. The hands are positioned just off the back shoulder in a relaxed position. The swing path is slightly elevated with a good finish through contact. His round yielded a lot of solid contact and an exit velocity of 79 MPH.
In the outfield, Trodden was 73 MPH on his throws. The footwork is good as he breaks down behind the ball. He transitions nicely through the play, allowing him to create a good line with his target and use a high, longer arm-swing. Trodden finishes through the play, keeping a good line with his target.
On the mound, Trodden works primarily out of the stretch. He gets to a good balance position and separates well at the top. Heading down the mound, he leans back, causing him to fall toward the first base side. The arm works out of a short, ¾ slot that produces sink on a fastball that sits 67-69 MPH. The slider has late, tight spin and sits 62-64 MPH. He also mixed in a change-up at 61-63 MPH that looks to still be developing.
