Joseph LaPan: RHP/3B, (2023) Saint John’s Shrewsbury, MA. 6-foot-1, 185-pound athletic projectable build. Projectable during batting practice, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 85 mph. (68.38 mph bat speed average). (22.05 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced athletic stance with a tight load, then used a short stride. Has a long uphill swing plane, developing bat speed and high finish. In the round he found some barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Projectable while in the infield, made throws up to 80 mph; had sure developing hands, consistent developing footwork, and a clean exchange. Fielded the ball out front with developing movement laterally. Showed consistent accuracy to the base with a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. Clocked a time of 7.64 in the 60-yard dash.

Hit: (RHH) Projectable. Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a tight load, then uses a short stride. Developing bat speed. High finish, long uphill swing. Gap to gap approach. 

Power: 85 mph exit velocity, average 75.68 mph. 68.38 mph bat speed average. 22.05 mph hand speed average.

Defense:  (IF) Sure developing hands, consistent developing footwork, clean exchange. Projectable.  Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were developing. 

Arm: 80 mph infield velocity. Loose arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy. 

Speed: 7.64 (60-yard).

6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitting corner infielder and pitcher. He ran a 7.9 sixty at the event. The approach in the infield is online and athletic. He moves well through the ball and showed soft hands during the catch. He threw 79 mph across the diamond during the infield portion of the workout. The bat has an exit velocity of 78 mph. The setup is even in base and upright. The front foot dives into the plate as the swing is produced. The path is long to contact. On the mound, the fastball sat 76-78 mph. The breaking ball was 68-70 mph and trending up as it has improved. The changeup is a developing pitch for him. The delivery is online with the feet and the slot is above 3/4 in height. The lift is repeated, the glove has pull down to it, causing him to come offline with his target. Lessening the glove pull will add to his extension and his velocity. He is a solid athlete that has improved a great deal in the last year or so. 

Exit Velocity- 78 mph

INF Velocity- 79 mph

LaPan is a 5-foot-11, 157 pound prospect.  The right-handed hitting infielder had an exit velocity of 73 mph.  He hits out of a narrow stance, with the hands set just off the back shoulder.  The load begins with a knee to knee shift, to get the weight to the back leg. The hands push back into a strong position to hit.  Once there, the bat-head takes a flat, direct path to and through contact.  

Defensively, the young infielder was 69 mph across the diamond.  The feet are active pre-pitch, as he prepares to react to the ground ball.  Once hit, he uses deliberate actions to get into a balanced fielding position.  The glove is in a good position, behind the ball. He works through the ball well and gets to a good throwing position, in line with the target.  The arm-swing is clean and he finishes through the play.

On the mound, he uses a clean, balanced delivery to create good direction to home plate.  He gets down the mound well and the arm-circle is fluid. The fastball showed well, sitting 72-73 mph, with some late arm side run.  The breaking ball was a tight, good looking pitch at 62-64 mph. He also showed the feel for a change-up that sat 64-65 mph.

Tee Exit Velocity- 73 mph

INF Velocity- 69 mph

The 5-foot-10, 150 pound right-handed hitting infielder. Showed an interesting skill-set in the infield.  The feet were choppy but got into a good fielding position. As he broke down the glove was in a good fielding position.  The arm was long and clocked at 68 mph across the infield. He also ran a 7.8 sec 60.At the plate, the tee exit velocity was 76 mph.  The stance is wide but balanced. The swing plane is direct through contact and does show the ability for some pull side pop.On the mound, the arm was quick out of a ¾ slot.  The fastball was 65-67mph and showed some arm side run.  The breaking pitch was 50-56mph with correct spin.  The hit tool is something to keep an eye on with this young duel guy.  He’s already showing the ability to drive the ball with authority.

5-foot-10, 150-pound right-handed hitting corner infielder. Ran a 4.59 home to first at the workout. The frame is long and athletic, solid actions in the field. Threw 66 mph across the diamond. The glove is soft, keeping the feet active is imperative during the fielding process. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 70 mph. The setup is even in base, front foot gains ground as the ball approaches. The path is long to contact, and he cuts off the swing after contact. Continuing to get physically stronger will aid the process.

5-foot-10, 150-pound corner infielder and pitcher. Ran a 8.6 sixty at the event. Threw 66 mph during the infield portion of the workout. The glove is soft and the hands work appropriately to the ball. The feet need to remain active during the process. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 70 mph. The setup is wide in base, uses a small pick up and put down of the front foot as the ball approaches. The path is uphill to contact. On the mound, the fastball sat 63-64 mph, minimal arm side action to the ball. the spin pitch is 55-57 mph. The changeup is 57-58 mph. The delivery has minimal crossfire and the slot is lower than 3/4. The command of the ball needs to improve but shows the ability to make the ball spin correctly.
