To put it simply, Baez is tooled up. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Vanderbilt recruit was up to 97 mph early in the summer, but that might be a fallback option for him. His quick-twitch actions allow him to whip the bat through the zone with plus bat speed, producing loud contact. In his first at-bat at the Area Code Games, he squared up a 91 fastball at 94 off the bat for a single and followed it up with a home run to right-center field that was 107 off the bat. He has turned in above average run times down the line, but profiles best in right field where his power, athleticism and arm strength easily play. He was 93-95 on the mound, mixing in an 81-83 slider and 87 changeup.

6-foot-3, 205-pound, big, long, wide athletic frame. Already filling out, advanced frame for his age. Top player at this event, performed extremely well on both sides of the field. A right-handed hitter, had a tee exit velocity of 96 mph and ran an easy 6.78 sixty-yard dash. The strides are long and covers a good amount ground. At the plate, feet are even, slightly wider than shoulder width. The hands are quiet set just above the shoulders, bat starts in a tilted position. The swing is level through the zone, finishes at the shoulders. The barrel stays in the zone, hands are inside the baseball, approach is from middle to pull side. The power is advanced, has plenty of juice to beat the outfielders. The bat will play at the next level. From the outfield, feet are athletic in transfer, steps through hard and gains ground. The arm action is longer and clean on the backside, works out of a high ¾ slot, clocked at 89 mph, flight is downhill and on target.  Big time prospect, chance to be a good draft in two years.

Tee Exit Velocity- 96 mph
Arm Velocity- 89 mph
Sixty-Yard Dash- 6.78
