Howell is a long 6-foot-3, 180 pound right-handed pitching prospect. He works out of a balanced, simple delivery that creates a consistent line with home plate. The tempo of the delivery is solid and he repeats the process.  The fastball sits 74-76 MPH out of a higher slot, producing some late run. The breaking ball was 66-68 mph and can improve with additional fastball hand speed added to it. He also worked in a change-up at 69-70 MPH that showed well. The changeup showed action and sink at times.

9/28/19

The 6-foot-2, 165 pound right-handed hitting outfielder had a tee exit velocity of 79 mph. The stance is balanced with weight centered over the midline. The hands are relaxed off the back shoulder. The load is short and the swing plane is elevated. Once in the zone the barrel extends well through contact. He also ran a 4.8 second home to first at the event. In the outfield, he threw 76 mph to home plate. The feet were active as the ball is hit. The approach is under control and he's athletic adjusting to get into a good position to field. The glove is relaxed and in a good position. The transfer to the throwing position is clean and the arm swing is loose. On the mound, the delivery is simple and he stays in line as he works down the mound. The arm slot is low ¾ and creates late arm side run on his fastball that sat 74-76 mph. The breaking ball was 70 mph and more of a sweeping pitch. He also featured a knuckleball at 66 mph that showed well.
