Hit: (RHH) Above average raw. Began in an athletic wide stance with a small load, then used a short stride. Above average quick bat speed. High finish, uphill loose swing. Aggressive approach.
Power: 85 mph exit velocity, average 75.03 mph.
Defense: (OF) Sure developing hands, athletic consistent footwork, clean exchange. Above average. Laterally, movements were developing and fielded the ball out front.
Arm: 79 mph outfield velocity. Loose quick arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy.
Speed: 6.59 (60-yard).
O’Brien is a 5-foot-6, 140 pound right-handed hitting outfield prospect. He hits out of a narrow, slightly open stance with the hands set just off the back shoulder. The swing begins with a knee slide and a pushing back of the hands. As the bat enters the hitting zone, his hand speed is evident. The ball jumps off his bat, yielding a max exit velocity of 87 MPH during the batting practice.
Defensively, O’Brien was 75 MPH on his throws from the outfield. The feet are athletic and allow him to get into a good throwing position as he transitions through the play.
