Maryland Preseason All-State Session I
Body: 6’2’’, 170 pounds. Strong, athletic, projectable body type.
Hit: Switch. Hits from a tall, balanced, square stance at the plate from both sides. Smooth, rhythmic back load with a shorter in to out stride. Attacks the ball with intent, keeping his hands inside the ball nicely with solid balance throughout. Ball explodes off the bat and stays behind the ball well with an uphill swing path. Strong line drive tendencies to the gaps and alleys with a one handed finish.
Power: 94 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Power is present from the right side to both gaps and alleys with more projected as the body continues to fill out.
Arm: RH. C - 74 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot.
Defense: Pop times ranged 2.04-2.19. Gets out of the crouch quickly and replaces feet well with quick, clean exchanges. Throws showed carry to the bag.
Run: 7.66 60-yard time.
Maryland Top Prospect Games West
Body: 6’1’’, 170 pounds. Strong, athletic, projectable frame.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, upright, open stance at the plate. Smooth back load with a smaller stride. Creates some hand separation with quick hands and fast bat speed through the zone. Short, compact swing with a more level swing path. Attacks the ball with intent, utilizing strong lower half involvement and solid extension through the zone and past contact. Strong one-handed finish with a solid middle of the field line drive approach.
Power: 89 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. Gap-to-gap pop with more projected.
Arm: RH. C - 72 mph. Throws with short arm action from a three-quarter slot.
Defense: Pop times ranged 2.01 - 2.22. Gains ground on throws and replaces feet well. Quick, clean exchanges with strong, accurate throws to second base that showed carry.
Run: 7.64 60-yard time.
Delivery: Controlled side-step wind-up and leg kick to a tall balance point. Smooth, easy stride down the mound with more level shoulders. Lands in-line with the plate and gets over the front side some with a slightly upright finish.
Arm Action: RH. Throws with a full arm circle from a mid to high three-quarter slot with easy effort.
FB: T83 mph, 80-82 mph. Average spin rate of 2173 rpm per TrackMan.
CB: 71-73 mph. 11/5 shape with an average spin rate of 1954 rpm per TrackMan.
Preseason All-State Session III
Positional Profile: C/RHP
Body: 6’1”, 170 pounds. Strong, athletic, projectable frame.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, slightly open stance at the plate. Short back load and small stride. Creates some hand separation. Short to the ball with a more level swing path. Showed quick hands and quick bat speed through the hitting zone. Strong lower half involvement, good extension past contact and a one-handed finish. Nice middle of the field line drive approach, squaring several balls up during BP.
Power: 88 mph exit velocity from the tee. Gap-to-gap pop with much more projected.
Arm: RH. C - 73 mph. Throws with short arm action from a mid three-quarter slot.
Defense: 2.00 - 2.19 pop times. Quick side-step gaining ground on throws to second base. Throws were on a line and accurate to the bag. Ball showed carry.
Run: 4.59 home-to-first time.
Delivery: Starts with a quick, rocker side step into a waist high leg kick. Arms seem to get outside of his body some, but still typically generate good action. Hand separation is on time, and fluid. Lands in a competitive position.
Arm Action: RH. Throws downhill out of a low three-quarter arm slot.
FB: T83 mph, 80-82 mph. Arm-side run was evident.
CB: 68-68 mph. Loopy 11/5 shape.
CH: 69-71 mph.
