VA/DC Committed Combine
Calabrese is 6-2 with a lankier athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open taller athletic stance, strides on line, smooth load back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing, showed a good approach using the whole field with strength at contact, ball carries in gaps and he has power to all fields, exit velocity was 92. In the infield, plays on toes, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and quick soft hands, works through ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters slot, short quick arm, position velocity was 87. Ran a 7.34 60 yard dash.
Athletic, projectable frame. Moves well at shortstop and showed range and clean actions. Went 1-for-4 in the ballgame against Archbishop Spalding with a run scored. Balanced stance at the plate with a small leg kick load. Compact swing with bat speed and good extension past contact.
MD Top Prospect Games East
Athletic, lean body type and projectable 6’0’’, 165 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, slightly open stance at the plate. Small leg kick load and good hand separation. Short, quick, easy stroke. Showed some lower half involvement, quick hands and quick bat speed. Slightly uphill swing path and showed excellent balance in the box throughout the swing with good extension and a strong finish. Line drive type hitter that uses the entire field and showed power to the gaps. Recorded an 83 mph exit velocity. Athletic and rangy in the infield. Plays with active feet and moves very well. Surrounds the ball and works through it with soft hands and quick, clean exchanges. Throws from a low three-quarter slot with slightly longer, loose arm action at 76 ph across the diamond. Clean actions on double play feeds to second and made plays on slow rollers with ease and excellent body control. Ran a 7.60 60-yard time.
MD Preseason All State
Solid athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. Stance starts square with an athletic setup from the right side. Small pickup and put down to stride, lands on-line, and hands load back to a strong hitting position. Showed some bat speed getting through the zone with a level path and a slightly uphill finish. Had a gap-to-gap approach using the whole field well. Exit velocity was 85 mph. Plays with active feet, presents glove well, and fields the ball in the infield with a slightly wider base. Quick clean exchange with a short arm action throwing from a three-quarter arm slot at 74 mph across. Home-to-first time was 4.54.
