MD Preseason All State
Strong projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 215-pounds. Side step delivery with solid balance point and lower half closed off at the top. Down and out striding on line, drives off the back side, and shoulders are uphill as Berry moves down the mound. Smooth hand break with a long arm action. Throws with some arm speed and effort from a three-quarter arm slot. 4 seam fastball was down hill and 2 seam fastball had clear arm side run. Showed a feel for both fastballs and they sat at 82-84 and touched 85. Curveball had hard, late swing and miss action with 11/5 shape at 73-75 mph. Had a nice feel for the changeup at 75-77 showing fastball arm speed and intent. The changeup had late fade and was a solid secondary pitch.
Controlled side-step wind-up with a high leg kick into a tall, compact balance point. Clean hand separation and long, loose arm action. Creates quick arm speed through release throwing from a high three-quarter slot with easy effort. Lands square to the plate with an athletic finish. Fastball was 80-83 and breaking ball sat 70-71 mph.
