Maryland Preseason Preview

Body: 5’10”, 140 pounds. Athletic body type.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, slightly crouched, open stance. Short, rhythmic back load with solid hand separation and a toe-tap load stride. Stays short to the ball and attacks the ball with intent. Stays on the ball well with a level swing path and some bat speed. Two-handed finish with some extension and recoil with a solid middle of the field line drive approach. 
Power: 80 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. 
Arm: RH. INF - 66 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a three-quarter slot. 
Defense: Works through the ball with active feet in the infield, fielding it out in front and funnels to the chest. Clean transfers with a slight glove tap. Loose actions with soft hands and some lateral range. 
Run: 4.82 Home to first base time.

Delivery: Side-step wind-up into a tall balance position. Controlled stride down the mound landing stiff against the front side and in-line with home plate. Stays on top of the ball throwing downhill and falls off to the first base side through finish. 
Arm Action: RH. Throws with a full arm circle from a high three-quarter slot with light effort. 
FB: T71 mph, 68-70 mph. Showed control locating to both sides of the plate. Average spin rate of 1798 rpm per TrackMan. 
CB: 60-61 mph. 12/6 shape with an average spin rate of 1620 rpm per TrackMan.
CH: 60-63 mph. Slight fade.

Body: 5’10’’, 140 pounds. Athletic frame with room to fill out. 
Hit: RHH. Hits from a slightly crouched, open stance at the plate. Short back load with a toe tap to stride. Short to the ball with a level swing path and stays on the ball through contact well. Showed some bat speed and extension through contact. Two-handed finish with some recoil. Really nice gap-to-gap line drive approach. 
Power: 67 mph exit velocity from the tee. 
Arm: RH. INF - 66 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a low three-quarter slot. 
Defense: Works through the ball in the infield fielding it out in front and funnels to chest. Athletic base. Plays loose and is light on his feet showing good lateral range. 
Run: 5.01 home-to-first time.
