Maryland Preseason Preview
Body: 5’10”, 155 pounds. Athletic, lean frame.
Hit: RHH. Hits from an upright, slightly open stance at the plate. Slight back load with hands pre-set. Short, controlled stride with hands direct to contact and a more level swing path. Stays behind the ball well with solid balance throughout and some bat speed. Relaxed, fluid stroke with a really nice middle of the field line drive approach.
Power: 85 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Gap-to-gap pop present with more projected.
Arm: RH. INF - 76 mph. Throws with longer arm action from an over the top slot.
Defense: Plays through the ball well in the infield, fielding it out in front. Funnels to the belt with clean, quick exchanges. Shows solid lateral movement with the ability to throw from various arm slots.
Run: 4.47 Home to first base time.
Delivery: Pitches from the stretch with a high leg kick into a tall, compact balance position. Clean hand separation and smooth, easy stride down the mound. Lands in-line to home plate and gets over the front side with a slightly upright, athletic finish. Creates quick arm action through release with extension out front. Solid feel for the four pitch mix.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action that gets short at the top through release. Throws with light effort from a mid to high three-quarter slot.
FB: T73 mph, 71-73 mph. Control to both sides of the plate. Average spin rate of 1752 rpm per TrackMan.
CB: 63-65 mph. 11/5 shape with an average spin rate of 1879 rpm per TrackMan.
SL: 65-66 mph. Short 10/4 shape with an average spin rate of 1865 rpm per TrackMan.
