6/18/13 McGuire continues to improve. Filled into his body well. Not much more in terms of physical projection. Offensively-minded player. Has a nose for the barrel. Several hits at TP Games. Including bullet back up the middle. Gap-to-gap hitter with lots of slugging power. Could improve lower half a touch to see more pop. Above average arm from the outfield 88mph. Shorter arm action with good 4-seam carry. Clean exchange and over-the-top slot. In infield projects to be corner player. Softer hands. Footwork needs to continue to improve to feel more comfortable.
2/23/13 McGuire is known as a pure hitter. His hit tool is the biggest separator comparatively to his peers. Since last summer he has shaved .3 seconds off of his 60 time to a very respectable 7.1. His arm strength from the outfield sits at 86mph and across the diamond he was 82 from third. He showed good athleticism and played through the ball well. His throws were accurate and had good life. And as always the bat was explosive. He registered a 93 mph exit velocity. McGuire has continually made strides since the Midwest Futures Games last summer and shows no signs of slowing. He simply is not the same player that schools saw last August.
6/20/12 McGuire is a strong kid for only being in the 2014 recruiting class. That strength and athleticism asserts itself when he swings. At the plate he displayed gap to gap power. More a of a pull happy hitter, McGuire was still able to go the opposite direction. His arm from the OF and Infield were both strong and accurate. From the outfield, he touched 85 MPH and threw consistent one hoppers.
