2020 DRAFT:Once upon a time, Warren was a sleeper prospect from the Wolverine State. He was a catcher in high school, but has seen time mostly at shortstop for the Chippewas and at third base last summer in the Cape. However, in Warren's case, his prep position of catcher may be the position that carries him to the Big Leagues. He made three starts there during the shortened 2020 season. He's a pleasure to watch on the field, boasting quick and dependable hands, athletic actions and a 70-grade arm. Offensively, he's a switch hitter with loose hands and good bat speed, and is more fluid with some loft from the left side. Warren is also an aggressive runner, allowing him to make the most of his fringe-average speed. After raking his way through the Cape last summer, slashing .315/.396/.443 for Bourne, Warren continued his offensive consistency with a .328/.469/.406 slash with 16 walks against nine strikeouts during the shortened spring. He's an especially attractive option for those ML clubs who covet multi-position athletes with hit ability and plate discipline, believing the power will come with age and experience.

8/13/19:Warren is a pleasure to watch on the field, boasting quick and dependable hands, athletic actions and a double-plus arm. He charges well and can make all the throws necessary for the hot corner, projecting as a plus defender there, long term. While he handles shortstop, as well, and there is a chance he can stick there at least for the beginning of his pro career, a thick trunk, broad frame and fringy speed portend a shift to third sooner than later. Offensively, the Chippewa is a switch hitter with loose hands and good bat speed. He is more fluid, with more natural loft, from the left side, with an ability to consistently drive the gaps with authority. The power is light for a corner spot at present, making him somewhat of a tweener profile, but the defensive value could be high enough to make up for any offensive deficiencies at third if it comes to that. Warren is also a heady and aggressive runner, allowing him to make the most of his fringe-average speed with good, aggressive reads. After raking his way through the Cape this summer, slashing .315/.396/.443 for Bourne over 170 plate appearances, he projects as a Day 2 target with a chance to bump up even more with a strong fall and spring back on campus. (Faleris)

5/10/19: A former prep catcher, Warren showed a smooth swing from both sides with over the fence pop from the right side and gap power from the left. For the season Warren is slashing .361/.485/.582 with seven home runs, 62 RBIs and 13 stolen bases in 13 attempts. During an earlier game look this season, Warren showed a plus arm, plus hands and a real good internal clock on defense. He has top 5 round potential and is one to watch for the Chippewas in 2020.
