Summer 2016- The 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior was highly effective in his outing, producing lots of swing and misses with his three-pitch mix. In fact, he struck out five and walked one in two innings behind an 85-87 mph fastball that topped at 88 and low-70s slurve. There’s some funk in the delivery - pronounced shoulder tilt, deep takeaway, wrap - and works across his body, which apparently made it difficult for hitters to time up. Horton is committed to Minnesota.

3/20/16- 6-foot-3, 185-pound left-handed pitcher. #3 ranked player in MN 2017 class; #249 overall. Verbal commit to U. of Minnesota. Tall projectable build. Primarily fastball/changeup combo. Simple delivery, sound rhythm, slight should tilt, up and over delivery, long arm action with good arm speed out front. Fastball was 84-86 mph; touching 87 mph with life in zone. Above avg. arm speed, feel, and action on changeup at 66-68 mph; consistently spotting up to arm-side of plate.

Horton is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound left-hander who will contribute on mound and in the field. Projectable body with ability to pitch and hit. Fastball has touched 87-88mph.
