6/16/15- MN Top Prospect
6-foot-2, 215-pound 2-way player. Malek’s value is in his physical frame and arm strength. Shows plus power to pull side of field. High back elbow in set-up creates swoop and loft to swing. Ball jumps at contact with restricted short finish. 96 mph exit velocity off tee. Stiff hands behind the plate. Average flexibility blocking baseball. Plus arm strength behind the dish. ¾ slot effects accuracy to bag occasionally. 84 mph arm strength to second base with 2.00 pop time. Consistently pumped fastballs in 88-89 range; topping out at 90 mph. Body works well and in rhythm. Projects to be a power-type arm in college. Average command with above average offerings. Slider showed best action; thrown at 77-79 mph with tight rotation.
2/28/15- MN Preseason All-State
6-foot-2, 215-pound catcher/right-handed pitcher with a strong durable frame who ran a 7.44 60. Loads with high back elbow creating inverted C swing plane through ball. Uphill path. Short to ball with above average power to pull side of field. Balls explodes off bat at times. Short finish after contact with mid-pull approach. Strength in swing with 89 mph exit velocity off tee. Decent flexibility for size behind the plate. Has strength to receive. Heads get out front blocking; loses body control and balance. Shows solid footwork on catch and throw. Exchange is low creating length to release. Arm strength is not a problem and uses lower half in throws. 2.18 pop time with 81 mph arm and above average accuracy to bag. Has size and strength on mound. Shows great rhythm and upper/lower half are well sequenced together. Arm is clean with good extension and finish. Lead leg will swing out on him at times causing him to miss up in zone. Fastball shows great life with late cutting action 88-90 mph; topping out at 91 mph. Continues to improve secondary offerings. Has made huge strides since September 2014 with off-speed. Curveball shows flashes of sharp 12/6 break. 74-75 mph. Changeup feel is above average. 78-81 mph. Keeps secondary pitches in bottom of zone majority of time. Has flexibility and looseness to body. Moderate effort on fastball. Easy to dream on him being low-mid 90’s power arm.

9/15/14- NOTES
2-way player with arm strength. Linebacker build. Strong and physical. Shows plus arm strength from behind the plate. Bat is progressing. Loose with good rhythm on mound. Arm is fast and fluid. Has touched 90 mph. Inconsistent secondary offerings right now. Easy to dream on body and how well arm and body work together on mound.
