9/13/19

Miles Halligan (Hopkins HS, MN) is a hulking 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect who plays with physicality from both the right-handed batter’s box and the mound. Still uncommitted as the No. 9 prospect in Minnesota’s 2020 class, Halligan took the bump on Sunday for the Mariners Midwest Scout Team against a talented Chicago Scouts Association lineup. He creates easy downhill tilt with his heavy fastball released from an over-the-top arm slot, which sat 86-88 mph in his first couple frames of work. Halligan also utilizes a couple different breaking balls, a curveball and slider, both of which he has a feel to spin. His over-the-top slot helps generate hard downer action on his 12/6 curve, 70-71 mph. His slider also flashes sharp, late break 77-78 mph.

8/18/19

6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed hitting pitcher.  #9th ranked player in the MN 2020 class.  Athletic build and good mound presence.  Rocker step and turns into higher balance position.  Good direction down mound.  Throws from a high ¾ arm slot creating good tilt.  Fastball is straight thrown at 88-89 mph.  Curveball has sharp 12/6 break at 71-73 mph.  Slider has hard late break at 75-79 mph.  Change-up is mainly straight with slight run at times thrown 81-83 mph.

6/17/19

6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed pitcher. #9 ranked player in MN 2020 class. Solid athleticism on mound, higher balance point, builds tempo in delivery, delivers from utra high OT slot and drives ball downhill on steep plane. Fastball was 87-90 mph, heavy feel, with varying above avg. late action at plate. 12/6 breaking ball has tight spin and sharp break. Slows arm occasionally on changeup creating avg. action and feel for zone.

3/17/19

6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Solid frame.  7.33 runner.  Squared balance start.  Strides to start with small hand load.  Lower half gets through swing.  Swings hard.  Mid/pull approach with mainly line drive contact.  Average barrel and flashed average pop.  85 mph exit velocity.  IF- Plays high with average feet to field.  Glove can be stiff.  Makes routine play.  Longer arm action.  87 mph arm strength with above average carry and accuracy.  On mound- Good mound presence.  Good balance and tempo in delivery.  Gets down mound with good extension.  Throws from a high ¾ arm slot with clean arm action.  Fastball has good downhill tilt with late arm side run at 87-88 mph topping at 91 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break with good spin and shape thrown at 70-72 mph.  Change-up is inconsistent at 74-77 mph.  Solid follow on mound in 2020 class.

6/17/18- 6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed hitting third baseman. 7.42 runner. Square stance, uphill path, present raw strength, showed pop to deepest parts of field, fly ball hitter, 91 mph exit velocity. Above avg. carry with accuracy to bag, sure hands, higher fielding position, solid overall actions, 87 mph arm across infield.

3/17/18- #337 ranked player in PBR 2020 Overall Rankings. 6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Halligan is an interesting follow moving forward as he possesses a long-limbed, 6-foot-1, 190-pound, developing frame, and a strong right arm. He worked mostly 84-86 with his fastball throughout his bullpen session, and showed some feel for a downward breaking, 11/5 curveball (71-73). The effortless velocity that he showed should only rise in the future as he continues to add muscle to his durable frame. Halligan ran a 7.75 60, 83 mph exit velocity, and was 82 mph across infield. Square stance, knee to knee trigger, shoulder load and leans over plate, lower hand slot, lift in swing plane, stiffer hands but solid preset strength with flashes of pop in bat. Sure hands in field, clean quick exchange, easy arm action, avg. tempo and rhythm, solid overall actions with accuracy and carry to bag.

7/5/17- 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.45 runner. Short load, minimal rhythm, long stride, solid bat speed, spray contact using whole field, 84 mph exit velocity. On mound; highly projectable prospect on mound, athletic delivery, slight tuck and turn in high balance point, shows athleticism and body control. Hand speed is extremely quick and explosive, repeats delivery well, and is a strike thrower. Fastball was 84-86 mph with late heavy arm-side run. Above avg. tight spin and shape on late breaking 12/5 curveball. Above avg. arm speed on changeup with late run and sink.
