Midwest Future Games: While Eli Dilday (OF/SS Christian HS) only came away with one hit, he showed the ability to barrel up the ball and hit it hard. In game one he was robbed of extra bases when the Indiana centerfielder made what could have been the play of the weekend with a leaping catch of Dilday’s hard line drive to the warning track. Dilday has extremely quick hands and fast bat speed. The athletic Dilday showed one of the strongest arms of the weekend in the outfield (91-mph).
Pre-season All State: Dilday is an athletically built 6-foot, 188-pound two-way talent who showed well in all facets of the game, and looks to be one of the top talents in the Class of 2014. Dilday displayed a strong arm, both in the field (82 mph) and on the mound. Dilday has a smooth rhythm and quick arm on the mound, throwing from a high ¾ arm slot in which the ball jumps out of his hand. He has three different pitches, an 82-84 mph fastball that showed arm side run and sink that was consistently in the zone; a 63-66 mph curveball that has a sharp two-plane break, and a 70-72 mph changeup that showed late sink. Defensively, Dilday displayed athleticism in the infield by utilizing his soft hands and fluid footwork as he handled every ground ball with natural actions. He exhibited a quick, clean exchange and an accurate arm (82 mph). Offensively, the left-handed hitter exhibited a quick, balanced and explosive swing. He generates tremendous bat speed through the zone and gets excellent extension after contact. The ball jumps off his bat with backspin carry.
