6/2/12: The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Kaplan impressed with his overall athleticism and overall tools. Kaplan is a projectable prospect who showed a balanced and quiet approach at the plate and demonstrated a powerful left-handed swing that produced excellent backspin carry. In the outfield, Kaplan was quick to the ball with athletic footwork and showed the ability to catch everything with his momentum coming forward, showing a plus arm (79 mph) with good carry and accuracy. Kaplan also ran a 7.17 in the 60.
