Open ID Showcase: Behind the plate, the athletic 5-foot-11, 165-pound Kostello has a short, compact release from a 3/4 arm slot, firing a pop time of 2.0. Kostello also showed quick, advanced blocking actions. As a hitter, Kostello uses a strong lower half to generate power and barrel whip through the zone with a level, line drive producing swing. Top Prospect Showcase: Kostello is a strong bodied 6-foot, 175 catcher who showed fundamental receiving skills and athletic blocking behind the plate. Kostello has good footwork, with pop times of 2.35 and 2.36. Kostello also showed some ability in the outfield taking good angles to the ball and using a big crow hop to deliver accurate throws. At the plate, Kostello consistently found the ball with the barrel of his bat.

2/20/12: The 6-foot, 180-pounder recorded pop times of 2.08-2.12 as well as a 75-76 mph arm from behind the plate.  In the outfield, Kostello took good routes to the ball and delivered crisp 76 mph from there, too.  A right-handed hitter, he possesses an opposite-field approach at the plate and extends through contact.  With better use of his lower-half, Kostello has the potential to be a gap-to-gap, line drive hitter. Kostello has shown consistent progress at each PBR event he has attended.
