1/26/20

Positional Profile: 3B/1B.  Potential middle of the order threat at the next level.
Body: 6’5”, 210 pounds. Large, athletic frame.
Defense:  Catches the ball in the center of his body with average hands. Exchanges at the center of his body.
Arm: R. INF - 78 mph. Long arm action, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: RHH. Wide, even base with the bat starting flat above his back shoulder. Loads back with a short stride with barrel getting some angle behind his head. Looks to get the ball in the air middle to his pull side with an uphill bat path.
Power: 95 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Average bat speed with strenght off the barrel and some barrel awareness.
Run: 4.15 runner in the 30.

Large frame at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds.  Still maturing and may continue to grow.  Strength is beginning to fill out the frame.  One of the youngest players attending the 2018 PBR Future Games, Grande held his own throughout the event.  A right handed hitter, works from a balanced, athletic base. Vertical bat. Weight shift back with a small leg kick.  Simple setup to launch. Stays tall through the swing, working onto the front side. Some lift in the swing, finishing with high hands.  Good barrel ability. Strength to the pull side gap. Exit velocity tested at 89 mph off the barrel. We have seen better bat speed from Grande, and the long summer of travel did take a slight toll on his quickness.  Throughout the week, continued to make adjustments to the high level of pitching and began to be on time for pitches consistently. Active feet and soft hands at third base. Hips can be a little high through the catch.  Feet work with some quickness in small burst allowing him to transition quickly as the hands funnel to the belt. Medium arm swing to a high-¾ slot. Throws have easy carry at 74 mph across the diamond. Ran a 7.71 sixty with a better burst off the line than the time suggests.  Should improve the time with continued strength additions in the off-season.
