5/13/23

After an impressive showing at Globe Life in Week One of the college season, the 6-foot, 220-pound strong-bodied outfielder continued to slug at the plate through his first 32 games (.351/.486/.739, 12 HR). However, against Arkansas Little Rock on April 11 he sustained a broken thumb that required surgery. He recently had the pins removed and could return to the lineup at any time, although it may take some time to return to full strength. With plus-plus raw power as his top tool, Wegner has the talent and has produced to be selected in the top 10 rounds and his status as a fifth-year player almost ensures that he will be selected as a bonus pool saver during Day Two of this year’s draft.
