6/28/17

5-foot-10, 185 -pound left-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher. Moves well around the bag, handling the throws and the ability to defend. Threw 79 mph across the diamond out of a long arm path. Showed the ability to hit in the game, barreling up the ball a number of times. Tee exit velocity of 87 mph, very advanced for his age. Seems to be on time with every swing. Sets up with his feet wide and hands pushed back. Uses his hands to maneuver the barrel and initiate contact with the ball. Advanced as a hitter. Ran a 4.69 down the line on his dig to first base.  On the mound, the fastball touched 73 mph. The spin pitch is big, sitting at 56 mph. The changeup needs a spin fix, sits at 66 mph. The delivery is online with his feet, the tracking off the front shoulder comes off target too early. The slot is ¾ and he needs to tighten up the action of his glove so the ball hand can get out front.  Has a lot of moving parts to the delivery, needs to calm it down to throw more strikes.  Like the bat.

11/13/16

Left-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher. Positionally, showed very well around the bag at first base. The footwork is appropriate, and the glove is handled properly. Threw 75 mph across to third base with carry and accuracy. The bat is advanced, 81 mph tee exit velocity. Sets up, under control with his feet and flexion in the knees. The feet are wide, and the hands are even. There is a pick up and put down of the front foot prior to contact. The bat is direct to the ball and the hands are kept inside the ball to contact. Sprayed the ball with authority during the batting practice session On the mound, shows a clean delivery and loose arm. Small stop on the backside of the arm swing. The fastball touches 72-73 mph with arm side action to it. The breaking ball has the correct shape, sitting at 57-58 mph. The changeup has the right spin, needs to relax the wrist to get a cleaner path to the plate. The changeup is 64 -65 mph. The delivery is athletic and quick in tempo. The slot is 3/4 and the tracking of his shoulders needs to continue to improve. Good looking hitter at his age.
