7-21-2018: Stetson sophomore shortstop Kyle Ball is in the same mold as Torres: a slick defensive shortstop with smooth actions, a quick first step, a strong internal clock and a strong, accurate arm. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Ball needs to get stronger and prove himself at the plate after hitting .230/.299/.295 (in just 61 ABs) as a freshman, but he’s holding his own this summer, batting .293 with five doubles in 75 at-bats for the DeLand Suns. I got one below-average run time from home to first, but it wasn’t enough to make a conclusive assessment about his speed, and he does have six stolen bases this summer. If his bat comes, he could be a prospect of interest for 2020. (Aaron Fitt)
