2017 New Jersey State Games (July 26-27, 2017)
Lawrie has an athletic build at 5-foot-11 185-pounds. Fastball topped at 76 MPH and sat mostly 74-76 for his outing. Flashed a 1/7 breaking ball at 59-62 for strikes. Also showed a 67-70 MPH changeup with some fade. Works primarily from the stretch. Athletic balance point, downhill shoulders going down the mound. Shows some funk to delivery and arm action. Hides ball well before release. True-3/4 slot. Stiff front landing leg.

Preseason All-State Showcase (February 11th, 2017)
Lawrie has an athletic build at 5-foot-11 185-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 8.10. Offensively- starts in a balanced stance with hands below back shoulder with the bat vertical.Uses a foot stride and hand load to start swing. Hands load straight back. Finishes tall with a stiff front leg. Creates some lift in swing. Exit Velocity topped at 78 mph. Defensively- shows some hesitation in attacking ground balls. Fields on outside of foot to provide him some momentum going toward target. Throws topped at 77 from the OF. Pitching- Fastball topped at 77 mph. Sat mostly 76-77. Breaking ball showed sharp 1/7 depth at 65 mph. Also flashed a 74 mph changeup. Drop and drive type pitcher, uses back side to stay directional down the mound and to provide power. High-3/4 slot with a long loose arm action. Lands square and continues momentum toward homeplate.

Underclass Games (September 18th, 2016)

Lawrie has a stockier build at 5-foot-11 162-pounds. Sat 77-79 with FB and showcased a 1/7 sweeping breaking ball. Arm action looks clean, long and loose. Sound mechanics for age, lands under control and square to homeplate. Breaking ball can be used as an out pitch, especially against lefties at the next level. Interesting prospect to follow - needs to get stronger to build stamina/arm strength/velocity.

Winter Trials South (January 30, 2016)
Jake is a lean and athletic 5-foot-11 and 162 pounds who ran a 4.37 home-to-1B. Offensively- Jake sets up in a spread and even stance with a hand position up and off the shoulder, almost pre-loaded with a 45 degree bat angle. Minimal timing mechanisms with a short take back and an up and down stride. Stays behind the ball well and is aggressive with lower half. Short stoke into the zone with a long and elevated finish with a late one hand release. Line drive results with a peak exit velocity of 81 MPH. Defensively- Jake is aggressive with his approach, utilizing more of a shuffle step in to his release instead of a crowhop. Arm is loose and demonstrated good carry at 79 MPH. Pitching- From the mound Jake works primarily from the stretch from the glove side of his rubber. Drives up to a compact balance point with a mid chest knee drive. Arm action is long and works through a low 3/4 arm slot. Slight collapse on front knee with a late brace up. Acceleration is there, watch for the late recoil that would prevent him from flushing his arm out during his follow through. FB sat at 75 MPH today with some early action to his breaking ball at 61-62 MPH. Change up was on the firm side at 70-71. Differentials and were better in September but there's plenty of time to get back to those points.
NJ Underclass Games (September 20, 2015)
Lawrie is 5-foot-10, 150 pounds and very athletic. The left-hander pitches exclusively out of the stretch with solid direction. He loads his hips well and has an extremely loose arm that, when combined with his T-spine mobility, will lead to higher velocities. He has whip to his arm and pitches from a slightly lower than 3/4 arm slot. He had arm side run to his fastball at 75-79 miles-per-hour. His breaking ball has 1-to-7 action at 64-67 MPH and his changeup has some arm side fade at 65-66. He has a good 3-pitch mix that could potentially be electric.
