9/20/15 -- Ariza is a highly projectable RHP with an XL frame at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds. He pitches with methodical tempo and an aggressive lower half once he reaches the top of his lift. He has a quick, elbow climb arm action and pitches from a 3/4 arm slot. Confident in what he's doing, he showed presence on the mound which is an intangible that not many 2018s yet possess. His fastball had arm side bite at 83-85 miles-per-hour and his breaking ball flashed plus-plus potential at 70-72 MPH. His changeup is also effective at 80-81. He swing has strength in it and he showed some raw power potential to his pull side. Raw in the infield, Ariza does possess body control. He is a very high level pitching prospect.

9/13/15 (NY) -- Works from a big-bodied, athletic frame.   Defensively - At first base looked good receiving throws from the position players, nice footwork fielding through the ball, throws were on target, with a high 3/4 arm slot throwing motion.  Pitching - On the mound, he uses a simple side step, balanced delivery, arm action is clean and loose, throws with an over the top arm slot. He exhibits good command with a fastball max at 85 MPH, and a feel for his off-speed. Offensively - At the plate his setup is relaxed and very balanced, leg kick stride, with a back load.  His hands are very compact and strong, swinging on an upward tilt plane, with long/full extension through the ball.  Ariza has a lot of potential to be a big hitter, with major projection on the mound.
