7/16/15 – Kyle Ebert is a 5-foot-9 catcher with a stocky, strong build from Don Bosco Prep, one of the state’s baseball powerhouses. Ebert ran a 7.38 and showed well defensively. He popped a 2.02-2.10 down to second base and he did an excellent job receiving in the game portion. He commands respect from pitchers with a leader’s mentality. Offensively, Ebert hit from a relaxed, balanced stance and kept with a short, repeatable stride. He had a small back load and worked smoothly into a hitting position. He had a compact and strong swing and have some short extension. He sprayed balls to all fields, keeping his hips closed nicely in order to drive the pitch on the outer half. He has bat speed to work with, indicated by his 87 MPH exit velocity off of the tee.
