2019 Preseason All state showcase
Matos has a strong and broad-broad-shouldered frame at 5-foot-9, 170-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.82 seconds. Recorded an exit velo of 81 MPH. At the plate, starts in an open stance with his knees bent and weight shifted back. Average leg kick. Hands stay locked in position. Quick hands, was able to drive the ball to his pullside. Took defensive reps in the infield and recorded a top velo of 81 MPH. Made sure to stay low and athletic as he was fielding the ball. Made his transfer low, close to the body. On the mound, Matos threw exclusively from the stretch. High leg kick with tempo and rhythm throughout. Slightly shorter arm action and released from a high 3/4 slot. Uphill shoulder tilt. FB showed some downhill angle and was consistently thrown for strikes at 80-81 MPH. SL had some tight spin and definite swing and miss potential at 73-74 MPH. Changeup had straight downer action at 74-75 MPH.
