Rodriguez has a broad shouldered, athletic frame at 5-foot-10 195-pounds. Was one of the top offensive threats at the event. At the plate, starts in a neutral LH stance with hands above back shoulder. Uses a foot lift and stride to start swing. Hands load down to just above back shoulder. Quick hips and hands through the zone produce line drive pop -- the ball sounded different off of Rodriguez’s bat during BP, and has shown noticeable strides since we first got a chance to see him last winter. In the field, took reps from 3B. Topped at 72 MPH across the diamond. Short, slingshot looking arm action and plays through his throws with some armside run. On the mound, topped at 78 MPH and sat mostly 76-78. Long arm action from a high-¾ slot. Breaking ball showed some 11/5 tilt at 68-69 and featured a straight changeup. Tall/fall type going down the mound, uphill shoulder at front foot landing. Strong, stiff landing leg, will fall slightly to first base side of rubber on follow through.

Rodriguez has a lean and athletic build at 5-foot-8, 165-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.62 seconds. Recorded an exit velo of 74 MPH. The left-handed hitter starts in a wide and open stance. Hands begin above shoulder height away from the body. Short stride, on time. Hands move directly back during his load. Quiet, short to the ball. Sprayed line drives to all fields. Maintains rhythm, and stays balanced throughout. Defensively, took reps in the infield and recorded a velo of 74 MPH. Fields the ball under control. Shows fundamental footwork. Gathered himself with shuffle before making throws to bases. On the mound, Rodriguez starts tall on the middle of the rubber in line with the plate. Works quick and with tempo. Long arm action and releases the ball from a 3/4 arm slot. Strong front leg at foot strike. Engages his backside early and efficiently. From the stretch, starts with his feet even and back leg slightly preset. Uses a knee-to-knee in the stretch as well. Fastball topped 74 MPH and sat 73-74 MPH. Curveball was 64-66 MPH and displayed a sweeping action across the zone. Changeup showed fade and occasional run at 64-67 MPH.
