Sean Miller, RHP, Pope John High School, Fielder’s Choice, 2017
10/18/15 -- The 6-foot-3, 180 pound right-hander caught a little bit of bad luck at this event as he had to throw through some of the day's harshest weather conditions. While this most likely put a damper on things like velocity and command, it was a telling sign to see that he remained calm with poise and composure. The projectable right-hander pitched at 80-82 miles-per-hour with arm side run. His breaking ball was sharp, late, and, at times, devastating at 71-73 miles-per-hour. His changeup was effective when down at 75-76. The potential to have an above average three-pitch mix is there. He will be one to watch very closely this spring as I'm sure he's already received a decent amount of attention.
9/20/15 -- Miller was one of the most projectable arms to take the mound at the Underclass Games. The 6-foot-3, 180 pound right-hander had an impressive day showing that he has swing and miss stuff. He does a nice job in his delivery being dynamic. He has steady rhythm and keeps good direction while generating stored energy keeping his hips closed until late. He gets over his front side well and into extension with his 3/4 arm slot. He pitched arm side run of his 82-85 mile-per-hour fastball. His breaking ball has plus-plus potential at 74-76 MPH. To solidify that he had the event's best three pitch mix, he showed solid feel for his late fading changeup as well.
6/21-6/23 -- Miller has a nice frame to him and he projects to throw much harder than the velocity he showed at the Invitational. He pitched between 81-83 (85) miles-per-hour with a short, clean arm swing. He also flashed signs of having an above average slider which was thrown aggressively at 75-76 MPH. Typically a slider of this velocity with his spin rate translates to higher fastball velocity. He is a bit inconsistent with his hand separation but that is an easy fix.
