Hellings has a long and projectable frame at 6-foot-3, 175-pounds. Long, loose limbed. Starts on the first base side of the rubber. Shorter stride allows him to get over his front side and create downhill angle on his fastball. High intent in his delivery, falls off to the side after foot strike. Long, loose arm. High ¾ slot. Curveball had big, tight shape when located, but had tendency to back up on him (73-74 MPH). Slider was distinctly different than the CB, with more horizontal action at 64-68 MPH. Straight changeup with intent 76-77 MPH. Fastball with some life, overpowered hitters at time, sat 82-84 MPH, touching 85 MPH.
