Bernard has a lanky, athletic frame at 5-foot-11 160-pounds. One of the most impressive performances from anyone at this event. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.91-seconds and recorded an exit velocity of 93 MPH. Offensively, starts in a neutral stance with a slight knee bend and hands just above back shoulder. As pitch comes in, uses a small leg lift and stride to start swing. Hips coil back and hands load up and back in load process. Extension in arms creates line drive pop with gap to gap potential. Balance finish. BP round was impressive, the ball sounded different off the bat. One of the top risers in the 2020 NJ Rankings.
Futures Preview South (June 4th, 2017)
Bernard has an athletic build at 5-foot-10 165-pounds. Recorded some of the best measurable stats from the event as one of the youngest participants. Ran a 7.00 60 yard dash and topped at 83 MPH from the outfield. Also recorded 89 MPH exit velocity. At the plate, Bernard shows some prepitch rhythm in his hands and arms. Starts in a tall, neutral stance with hands above back shoulder. As pitch comes in, hands load down and back. Uses a big leg kick and stride to start swing. Creates some lift in finish. Finishes balanced and under control. Hips clear with some explosiveness. In the outfield, Bernard unleashed throws that topped at 89 MPH from a high-3/4 slot. Quick, loose arm action, able to continue momentum through his throws. High follow prospect as he continues to grow and mature through his high school career.
