June 25-27, 2018 (NYS Games)

60 Yard Dash:
7.0
Exit Velocity:
90
Positional Arm:

6-foot-0, 180-pounds and well built, projectable frame. Smooth actions, has really improved over the last few times we have seen him, a great sigh of his work ethic. Clean fluid arm with 79 mph arm strength. Solid body control. Offensively he's relaxed in the box, easy line drive aproach. Gap to gap power with 90 mph exit velo off a tee.  Overall balance and extension. Natural feel for hitting
Campus Series-Oswego (August 15, 2017)

VanBreason stands 5-foot-11, 160-pounds from a lean athletic build. Offensively- Strong and athletic, even setup, quick hands using a short path, slight incline to barrel, full extension on finish, repeatable, some power signs gap-to-gap. Exit velocity matched previous high of 85 MPH. Defensively- Wide approach to the ball, clean glove transfer, high ¾ slot, 73 MPH arm-strength across the diamond. Has been as high as 79 MPH previously.
NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)

Slender 5-foot-11, 160-pound infielder, ran 7.3/60. Offensively - short to the ball with a compact swing, keeps bat on level path through the zone with an exit velocity of 83 MPH, repeatable motion, some evidence of lower body engagement, counter rotation between upper and lower torso will trigger hips. Defensively - Shows basic fundamentals, will need to gain trust in arm strength and make use of fewer rhythm steps after receiving ball, infield velocity across diamond at 79 MPH.

Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)

VanDreason stands 5-foot-11, 160-pounds with an athletic frame and build and ran a 6.99 60-yard dash. At the plate his setup is relaxed with his hands shoulder height. On the pitch he uses a smooth back-load, weight transfer to his back leg, front leg stride with balance through contact. Uses a short path to the ball demonstrating a repeatable swing, level through the contact zone, signs for advanced bat-speed at 85 mph. Defensively stays behind the ball, slighly stiff through the ball, workable hands with a clean transfer, throws from a mid-high-3/4 slot with some arm strength. On the mound he uses a wide setup, works with an efficient tempo to his delivery, high knee lift, uses a long-back arm action, throws from an over-the-top slot. Fastball touched 79 mph with depth. Overall, there's a lot to like from the CNY sophomore, with more psychical strength and growth, VanDreason is likely to find his name on college's radar.
