Eastern NY Prospect Preview (August 2, 2016)
Brandon stands in at an athletic 6-foot-0 180 pound outfielder. He ran a 6.83 60 (in range of his 6.80 in June). Offensively-  Chavarria sets up in a spread, yet even stance. Controlled take back of the hands; maintains 45 degree angle. Short, compact and explosive with hands through the zone; line drive results; middle of the field with some pop to the pull side gap. Seems to get the barrel to everything as we evidence at the NY state games with several “loud” outs sandwiched around a cluster of hits. Exit velo just a notch under his 88 MPH in June at 85 MPH. Defensively- Stays behind the ball well during approach, receives fly balls center chest to glove side; quick transfer; accurate arm that will continue to improve. CF/LF projection at the next level. Arm strength was 81 MPH: personal best of 83 MPH in June.

New York Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Chavarria stands 5-foot-11, 170-pounds from an athletic build with room to add more weight. The No. 79 ranked player in NY's 2017 rankings shows premium athleticism evidenced by his 6.8 laser 60-time.  Offensively- Very simple athletic approach, smooth load, path is powerful (88 mph exit velo; +7 MPH from Jan. 2016) and short to the ball, barrel plane gets through the zone with some lift, finishes with long-extension. Shows balance through his swing and above average gap-to-gap power. Defensively- Has above average in-game range, stays behind the ball getting the most out of his 83 mph arm strength (+9 MPH from Jan. 2016). Throws are accurate and have some carry to the bag. Prospect on-the-climb here in New York.
NY State Open ID (January 31, 2016)
Brandon is an athletic 5-foot-11 170 pound outfielder with easy actions. He ran a 7.13 60 with a 4.21 home-to-1B. Offensively- Brandon starts in a spread stance with a slight coil with his take back and a short stride. Stays back into contact with an aggressive lower half. Repeats a short and efficient stroke with line drive results. Explosive through the ball at times. Moderate extension, gap potential as a hitter with an increased finish. Exit velocity was 81 MPH but plays better then that. Defensively- Brandon demonstrates gliding actions in the outfield with an easy approach to and through the ball. Gathers himself into his crowhop and showed an accurate arm at 74 MPH. Could benefit from increased acceleration immediately after fielding the ball to help channel some momentum into his throws.
