August 22/23, 2015
Attacked hitters from the mound. Keeps the ball down and has a made an adjustment throwing his breaking ball harder. Very patient hitter at the plate, can handle the better fastball.

Central NY Open (July 17, 2015)
P- Philips, a tall and lanky RHP from Liberty HS featured a balanced delivery with long and loose arm action with a slight wrap. Finishes balanced and over front side. Delivery is fairly clean and would benefit from additional tempo. Fastball sat 72-74 MPH with a lot more in the tank. Breaking ball and change up lacked feel today with the CB showing some 1-7 action but with loose rotation and at 60-62 MPH. Change looked choked at times in the 67-69 MPH range, not getting the ideal resistance  through the release. As evidence during his Individual Player Evaluation (IPE) in June of 2015, he definitely showed better command and tighter action to his breaking ball and better feel for change. Additional physical gains will go nicely with his frame.

Individual Player Evaluation (June 17, 2015)
Prototypical pitcher's frame with long and loose actions. Plenty of room for additional muscle mass. On the mound Caleb works from a low 2 O'Clock slot with a slight wrap of his arm action on the back swing. Would benefit from being a bit more compact with delivery, getting his core and lower half involved in the rotation towards the plate. Fastball features some arm side run and sink (74-76 MPH), primarily using his 2S. Features a big sweeping CB with 2-8 action but a little slow in the the rotation department (60-61 MPH). Maintaining arm speed will sharpen this pitch. Change up showed good arm side fade and sink with a separation that could benefit from another MPH or two less (67-68 MPH). Potential late bloomer that may have a velocity explosion that comes with physical growth and maturation.
In the outfield he shows an aggressive approach and sets up well behind the ball. Would like to see throws more on a line or use the long hop. Gets good back spin and carry so that shouldn't be an issue. Below average speed may lead to his projection being more pitching based or possible corner INF (1B). At the plate Caleb showed quiet timing mechanisms and short stroke to contact. Also demonstrated the ability to hit to all fields and a repeatable swing with extension that stays through the zone for a good amount of time. As he physically develops look for some power to come with it.
